We have sealed up the new house, turned on the alarm system, got somebody to mow the lawn, and have departed Bryan for the next four months or so. And guess what ... here we are at the Crestview RV dealer again (dark pic, sorry) getting parts bolted on the Flying Scotsman. And it is hot and humid ... and we are ready for the cool weather in the north.

We sat in the garage yesterday and had a new hydraulic leveling jack installed only to find out that it wasn't the right one and had to be removed. The new one will be Fedexed here tomorrow and we'll see if that works ... fortunately warantee work, but still a pain. The good part is that we can plug into the garage and get A/C for us and the pets while the air wrenches hammer away at the frame so it isn't too bad. We did get a new fridge door and the rain water leak fixed as well as repairs to the fresh water line ... again all free. Hey it could be worse, here's one that was pulled in behind the pickup ... if you look hard you can see the chain! Probably just didn't want to pay the high cost of gas, eh.

Tomorrow will be waiting for the jack and getting it installed. And a trip to Austin to get a brake switch installed on the HHR that was omitted on our last trip ... a needed thingy to make the brake controller work properly while the little car is being towed ... super car by the way.

We will be here at the dealer for Friday night the 30th, then up to the River Ranch park in New Braunfels to see everybody and then off Sunday morning to Dallas on the way to Canada.

As you can see, we have moved most of the 12,000 pounds of stuff from the garage to be distributed throughout the house ... sort of. Hey, the car fits in! 'Cause it is little I suppose. It has been really super to be able to spend the last couple of months with Bruce's parents and of course settle on a place for the new home residence that will allow us to head north for the summer but be a haven in the winter ... for us "winter Texans."

Now that we have made the house our home, we will abandon it for a few months ... are we crazy or what? Yep, we are off on the next leg of the travel adventure .... how much did you say gas was per gallon .... ooo?!

In addition to getting the house ready to live in and then secure to leave we are getting the Flying Scotsman ready for the summer voyage. Next week we will head down to the New Braunfels area and the Crestview RV dealer for some last minute parts replacement. We'll probably be there a couple of days before we head north again. We expect to be on the road toward Canada by the 1st of June, all repaired and fine tuned. The RV will be a bit lighter as we have been able to transfer a bunch of stuff from it to our new house ... now a storage facility for the summer.

Wow, what a month! Or so. Sorry for the delay in updating the blog, but after a fast year, we needed to work on the grand adventure and see what the next phase would be. We're still in Bryan-College Station and after we arrived, we started to look at some homes ... just for fun.

Bruce's parents are here and that made looking at places a little more logical so that we could be around to help as they are in their 90's.

Anyhow. We looked a bunch of places, made a couple of offers that were refused, and settled on a place just to the east of downtown Bryan. It's interesting that the market here is substantially different than other places in the country and there are very few places for sale and the price is still just over $100 a sqare foot.

Ta da ... here's the new place ...

and the moving van arrived yesterday ....

And all that shelf paper ...
