Yes, I know the Master Blogger has been slow with entries, but fun keeps getting in the way. Thursday, our good friends, the Neelys, came up from New Braunfels with their 5th wheel trailer and spent a couple of days.
As tour guides, the first place we took them was over to College Station and Texas A&M University, home of the "Aggies" and for the sports minded, Kyle Field.

The University campus is also home to the George Bush (pres #41) Museum, Library, and Research Center.

This is a great facility and very well done. You can do a quick tour of George's life and presidency in about an hour and a half, or spend weeks doing serious political science and historical research. The displays of a replica of the plane he was shot down in during WWII as well as model of the submarine that saved him are particularly well done. In one large room of the museum there is a continually changing theme; currently highlighting NASA. It housed a large variety of displays highlighting the space program, particularly the Shuttle history.
While we couldn't take pictures inside, here are a couple of the astro-nuts in the foyer ... obviously the place caters to children (or child-like minds) as well!

To cap off the touring, we took the Neelys to the Messinahof winery near us for lunch in the wine bar and then a tour of the facility ... quite an educational and fun afternoon.

And after the tour Pat and John got pictures taken with the owner, master brewer, and proprietor, Paul Bonarrigo VI, a sixth generation vintner. Actually he wasn't around so a cardboard cutout had to suffice ... but after several glasses of wine during the tour no one noticed. And yes, he does dress like that normally.
