Tonight we are in Williston Florida but here is the Flying Scotsman at Tyndall this morning just before we left. Our two nights on the base were great and for our military friends it was $22 a night for a really nice spot in the trees. We did some shopping at the BX and Commissary on base which was great and then went into Panama City to see what was there.
As I said we have been moving along this coast for the last 40 years and have been to Panama City a few times before but really prefer the Destin and Fort Walton Beach area for variety of things to do and amenities.
Anyhow now that we were in PC on the Redneck Riviera as it is known we hit Dicks which is a chain that I have been to in the San Antonio area ... but a fun spot for a quick din and refreshment.
The décor is beachy and fun and predictable with good beer mediocre food and an active atmosphere.
The weather was great at about 70 degrees and the beer as well in the beer salute above. The crowds are pretty much gone from this kid oriented piece of the beach as spring break is over. We have usually avoided PC because it was always the place that under 21 kids could drink easily and we have gone over to the more adult oriented beaches of Fort Walton and Destin.
After our night at Tyndall we went down 98 to the east and were rewarded with some really nice roads and scenery. Somewhere along the road nearing lunchtime I saw a bit of a turnout and thought, "great place to stop." Not. This is a boat ramp. We were able, after waiting for a camper and a guy with a boat, to go under the trees behind the bus and re-emerge at the present position for a bit of lunch ... whew ... and did not have to unhook the car.
