Muskoka Country
When we hit a nice Sunday we decided to head up to the Lake or Cottage Country around Lake Muskoka. Rick's daughter Danielle moved earlier this year to the town of Bracebridge so we grabbed Rick and drove the 50 miles to this beautiful region.
We decided to stop on the way to Dani's house and take another look at Gravenhurst, also on the lake and home to these wonderful historic steamships that you can take day and dinner cruises on. You can learn more about them at: http://realmuskoka.com/muskoka-steamships/our-ships/
After a cup of hot chocolate on the waterfront looking at these ships we continued on to Dani's house in Bracebridge. She has just moved there with Tyler and both are working out of that area at the present time.
First we met them at the Olde Station Restaurant in Bracebridge for some good food and caught up on what they were up to, then we went over to their new house.
This is a beautiful new craftsman style home and they have done a lot of work to make it a showplace. The features inside are a combination of the new stuff as well as neat old touches like open transoms over the doorways; really cool. The front, above, actually looks like what you would expect of the 1930's style bungalow and while it looks compact, it actually is a large place. Because it has a full finished basement like most of the homes here the living space is double what you would expect in the southern slab style homes.
After the great lunch and their hospitality we headed back to Barrie ... fun road trip!
