Sewer Blowout

We've all had some type of sewer plug up from time to time so this one just happened up stream from the Flying Scotsman. One of the neighbors was walking over to the shower building just behind us and sank into a stinky mess ... quicker steps to the shower, eh.

So this massive vacuum machine showed up to cut a hole down to the severed line with the least amount of digging possible. Not the least amount of noise however. The pump in that thing roared with mega decibels for several hours shaking the bus from end to end.

Here's the working end of the pipe as it sucked up grass, rocks, rodents, and everything in its path while cutting a hole under the tree to the line break ... and saving a really nice tree.

OK, we've just talked about a sophisticated machine that cut a neat hole down about 8 feet and then under the tree without hurting it. But how to find the precise leak as the whole yard was oozing stinky mush.

I couldn't believe it! Below is the sophisticated leak finding device. In this tech age the ancient divining rod is still the choice of the experts. Wow. This technician is holding a brass rod bent in a right angle and his crewmembers say he can find water flow quite deep and pinpoint the leak almost every time. You have to wonder what the job description and training might be.

And finally a nice evening shot of a passing thunderstorm and rainbow beyond the pond in the direction of Orillia.
