Canadian Bits on Arrival

We are now settled into our summer lot here in Barrie, Ontario, but here are a couple of bits from the trip since departing the US.

Below is our new front window creature and he has become known as the "weather bird." As we departed the park in Port Sanilac he said something to the effect, "those sure look like snow clouds ahead."

Actually we endured continuing drizzle and cool weather, but then on the 6th of May the picture below shows some of the brief snow flurries that he had predicted. It has remained in the 50 degree range since with some nights right near the freezing point.

As you cross the border and motor down the four lane this sign explains the rules pertaining to speeding over the posted 100KPH limit (62MPH). Lets see ... for going 90MPH it's 10 grand $$, they take your license, and take possession of your car, right on the spot .... better behave, eh.

As we went through the small town of Munkton on the way to Barrie we saw this car on the porch ... parking places must be in short supply ... and ... the steps.

But finally the weather is breaking out and creating a really pretty spring. The massive 150 year old maple at the end of our street is a perfect example of the species and just starting to fluff out; yet in just over 3 months it will be a riot of color and drop the leaves for the summer ... short span!

Today it will be about 65 with another little shower but tomorrow they are predicting a rise to over 80 so it will be time to hit the nursery for some of our annual flowers for the patio.
