February Closeout

The first item of business was to initiate the pool at our new complex. The day they declared it "open" we took the plunge. Above are the blogger and new friends Gary and Connie. Below in the hot tub is my special bathing beauty.

Unfortunately shortly after these were shot at the beginning of the month we had a massive freeze which destroyed the pump and a lot of the pipes to the pool area. Now at the end of the month all systems are go again and we'll be soaking happily. The pool is heated to about 90 and the hot tub to a little over 100.

I then realized the reason for some of the fuzziness of my photos and that was cataracts. I had been noticing some problems from last summer and finally it became time for correction that glasses couldn't resolve.

Below is the local eye place in Grapevine; Eye Consultants of Texas. They have been helping Jo-Anne with her eye allergy problems so I popped over there to see what they could do for me. I consulted with the surgeon and a couple of weeks later she replaced the cataract in the right eye with some new plastic ... really cool. I now have perfect medium and far vision in that eye and will do the left when we return from Canada in the fall.

Also in February grandson Ev came over and upon finding the pot containing about 200 wine corks created this work of art ... some sort of snake I guess.

During the month Jo-Anne continued to use her artistic design sense to create this wall design using a replica trunk shelf ... pretty neat.

And finally for February the blogster making sure the tires are properly inflated. We then took the Flying Scotsman over to Camping World in Denton for and oil change in both the engine and the generator for about $350.

All of this is in preparation for our departure to Canada during the last week of March ... about a month earlier than we have ever done. Tomorrow we'll take the bus over to the Twin Coves RV park to start the clean up process and get it livable again after being stored for the past several months.

Lakeside Village Life

We are adjusting to our new life here in Lakeside Village which is on the northeast side of Lake Grapevine about 15 miles northwest of Dallas proper. This is an entirely new village done the way we have been looking for for many years; shops on the lower level with apartments above; walk to it all.

The village contains all types of residential living from homes to condos to our over 55 apartments. Above is the entrance to the village at the corner of Lakeside Parkway and Long Prairie Road looking northward. Below is the same intersection looking southward with the Brazilian Steakhouse in the view.

Below is the Moviehouse Eatery dine-in theater in the background with Mena's Grill a higher end excellent Mexican themed restaurant on the left side; excellent food and $1 Mimosas for Sunday brunch!!

And another shot of Lakeside parkway now looking back toward the east.

Back home in the Overture place we live here are Jo-Anne and new friend Connie as they are taking art classes in our building's art room.

And the result of Jo-Anne's first finished product ... Wow ... really awesome!!

And finally as we walk out of our building, go south a block, enter the Lakeside Boardwalk, and walk the half mile along the lakeside you end up at this wonderful lake overlook and seating area with a commercial pic from the Lakeside Association.

Directly across the lake in the above view is Grapevine and the Vineyards RV park we used to stay in for the winters but now this place and the really nice RV park here in Flower Mound have won us over.
